DUSHANBE, October 11, Asia-Plus -- The State Finance Control Committee has inspected the use of funds provided for the construction of jubilee objects in Kulob, Abdujabbor Shirinov, the head of the State Finance Control Committee, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe today.

He added that the inspection results will be publicized in two months.  

According to him, 1,114 inspections carried out by the committee over the past nine months have recorded numerous instances of violations.  A total damage caused by these violations to the country’s economy has amounted to 25.7 million somonis (US$7.6 million).  “Some 76 percent of these violations concern illegal use of funds, 13 percent are damage caused by sale or rent of state-owned properties, and embezzlement of state funds account for 11 percent of these violations,” Shirinov said.   

Over the same nine-month period, the committee has inspected ministries and organizations, local governments in the provinces, state-run banks, as well as project coordination units funded by international organizations, according to him.  

The most serious violations have been reported in Sughd (totaling 1.1 million somonis) and Gorno Badakhshan (896,700 somonis). 

During the mentioned period the committee also inspected the implementation of local budgets in 31 cities and districts across the country.   

Financial violations have also been revealed in activity of the ministries of labor and agriculture, branches of Fund for Social Protection of the Population in the regions and the country’s Railways.   

Inspections by the committee have also recorded instances of violations in activity of the units for coordinating implementation of projects in the country’s energy, education and health sectors.  

Inspections of 326 state-run economic entities have revealed financial violations totaling nearly 10 million somonis, Shirinov said.  

212 materials for a total amount of some 14 million Somonis have been sent to the law enforcement agencies for further investigation. 

Over the mentioned period, 1,700 officials have been reprimanded and 59 others have been dismissed.
