DUSHANBE, October 30, Asia-Plus - The first meeting of interior ministers of member nations of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) entitled "Security, Stability and Sustainable Development" opened in Tehran today.
IRNA says the meeting will last till November 1. Participants are to exchange views on economic, social and security issues that will help them map out strategies to strengthen the security and economic stability of the region and the world at large.
Expansion of economic cooperation, money laundering, organized crime and illegal immigration are among the issues that will be raised at the three-day meeting.
Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are the member states of the organization.
