DUSHANBE, November 24, Asia-Plus - Tajikistan’s commercial banks plan to invest in construction of some facilities in the republic.

A source at the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) said that this issue was discussed at an enlarged board meeting of Tajik central bank on November 22.  Heads of commercial banks and non-bank credit organizations also attended the meeting.  According to the source, commercial banks proposed to give them an opportunity to act as co-investors and invest in the construction of residential buildings and other facilities across the country.   

Jamshed Ziyoyev, the head of TajPromBank (commercial industrial bank for reconstruction and development), told Asia-Plus that if this proposal is seconded, TajPromBank is ready to participate in the implementation of any construction project already next year. 

According to him, the Tajik central bank head Murodali Alimardonov telling the meeting pointed to the necessity of improving activity of the country’s banking system, increasing domestic investments, strengthening financial states of banks and expanding easier access of the population to loans.  The meeting also discussed issues related to attraction of foreign investments and development of a market of securities in the country.
