DUSHANBE, December 18, Asia-Plus - Over the past eleven months, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electric power and natural gas, has amounted to US$2.8061 billion, which is 141.9 percent of the January-November 2005 level or US$828.5 million more, according to the State Committee for Statistics.  The trade balance was negative and amounted to US$264.4 million.

The committee said that exports of goods over the eleven-month period have amounted to US$1.2709 billion, which is 54.3.8 percent or US$445.4 million more than in the same period of last year.  Imports of goods to Tajikistan have amounted to US$1.5352 billion, which is 33 percent or US$381.1 million more than in January-November 2005.       

In January-November 2006, Tajikistan’s main export partners were the far abroad countries.  They have accounted for 86.6 percent or US$1.1006 billion of Tajik exports.  Imports came mainly from the CIS countries, which have accounted for 64.6 percent or US$989.6 million of Tajik imports over the past eleven months. 

In January-November 2006, Tajikistan has had trade relations with 88 countries around the world, including 10 CIS countries.  The CIS countries have accounted for 41.3 percent or US$1.1601 billion of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover, and the far abroad countries have accounted for 58.7 percent or US$1.646 billion.  

Compared to January-November 2005 the trade with CIS countries over the report period has increased by 27.5 percent or US$249.9 million and the trade with the far abroad countries has increased by 54.2 percent or US$578.6 million.  

The balance in the trade with the CIS countries was negative and amounted to US$819.5 million, while the balance in the trade with the far abroad countries was positive and amounted to US$556.1 million.  

The main trading partners of Tajikistan were the Netherlands – US$543.1 million, Turkey – US4414.8 million, China – US$128.9 million, Iran – US$94.4 million, and of the CIS countries: Russia – US$429.4 million, Uzbekistan – US$221.4 million, and Kazakhstan – US$194.6 percent.
