KHOROG, January 30, Asia-Plus - In 2006, Gorno Badakhshan reduced production of cereals, Mulkamon Nazaraliyev, the head of the GBAO agriculture department, announced at a news conference in Khorog on January 29.
According to him, decline in cereals production resulted from reducing areas under the grain crops. “Compared to 2005, a total area under the grain crops in the region last year reduced by 938 hectares,” Nazaraliyev said.
Inventory of lands conducted in the region over the past three-four year has led to the reduction in the area of arable lands in Gorno Badakhshan by 1,060 hectares, according to the GBAO agriculture department head.
In 2006, all categories of farming units in Gorno Badakhshan produced agricultural output for 132.5 million somonis, which is 35.6 million somonis than in 2005,” Nazaraliyev said.
