DUSHANBE, February 8, Asia-Plus - TK-Mobile, one of Tajikistan’s largest cellular operators providing cellular communications in the CDMA standard, plans to improve quality of its communications services and expand its operations into all regions of Tajikistan.  

According to TK-Mobile’s headquarters in Dushanbe, the company plans within the next few days to install its stations in Bokhtar, Khovaling and Vose districts as well as in the territory of the Kulob airport.  “This year, TK-Mobile plans to expand its operations into the Khatlon province, in particular to Panj, Qumsangir and Jilikul districts,” the source said. 

This year, the company will also have installed its stations in Ayni and some other districts of the Sughd province.  The company plans to provide coverage to the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan) as well. 

TK-Mobile attaches important significance to improvement of communications services provided to its customers. 

Under an agreement signed in December 2006, China Development Bank (CDB) provides a $73 million long-term loan to improve telecommunications services in Tajikistan.  The loan will be used to purchase modern equipment for TK-Mobile and Tajik Telecom. 

Supplier of equipment to TK-Mobile is China’s largest telecomm manufacturer ZTE, which owns control package of this cellular operator.  The new equipment will enable TK-Mobile to improve quality of its cellular communications services. 

Cellular operator TK-Mobile was launched in 2005 as Tajik-Chinese joint venture.  TK-Mobile is the first operator in Tajikistan to provide cellular communications in the CDMA-2000 1X standard.  Tajikistan owns 49 percent of the shares and the Chinese company ZTE assumes the 51% ownership interest in the closed joint-stock company TK-Mobile.  TK-Mobile has 120,000 customers.  

Founded in 1985, ZTE Corporation has been listed as an A-Share company on Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 1997.  In December 2004, ZTE was successfully listed on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange in Hong Kong.  ZTE recorded the contract sales of approximately USD 4,111 million (RMB 34 billion) in 2004.
