DUSHANBE, March 9, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Interior Ministry department for combating drug trafficking (drug police) have intercepted a large amount of heroin in Dushanbe.
A source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that a 28-year-old resident of the northern city of Khujand Tolibjon Nazarov was detained in Dushanbe on March 8 on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. “10 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been introduced against Nazarov and an investigation is under way.
According to the MoI, their officers have intercepted more than 900 kilograms drugs, including some 400 kilograms of heroin since the beginning of the year.
