DUSHANBE, March 16, Asia-Plus -- Tajik police intercepted some 15 kilograms of drugs in the republic Thursday, March 15, according to the ministry of interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said that resident of the Hamadoni district in Khatlon was detained by the transportation police officers in Dushanbe yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. When searching his car VAZ-2107, they found 11 kilograms of heroin. The car owner and his passenger, resident of Dushanbe, were detained and an investigation is under way.
Another resident of the Hamadoni district was detained at the traffic police checkpoint Olimtoy in the Vose district. 1.855 kilograms of hashish and 0.2 gram of raw opium were found in his car VAZ 2109.
The third case of drug trafficking was reported in the Danghara district of Khatlon. Some 3 kilograms of hashish were found in the house of one of residents of the village Qushbuloq.
Over the past two months, Tajik police have seized some 1 ton of drugs, according to the source.
