DUSHANBE, June 7, Asia-Plus - A large drug hide containing 55 kilos of raw opium and 21 kilos of cannabis has been discovered in the area patrolled by the Hamadoni border unit.
Khushnud Rahmatulloyev, a spokesman for the border protection directorate of the State Committee of National Security, said that border guards from the Hamadoni border unit on a routine patrol discovered the drug hide late Wednesday. According to him, more than 76 kilograms of drugs, including more than 55 kilograms of raw opium and 21 kilograms of cannabis were extracted from the hide. Investigation is under way.
Over the first five months of the year, Tajik border troops have seized more than 345 kilograms of drugs. The totaled included 65.6 kilograms of heroin, some 130 kilograms of raw opium, 137 kilograms of cannabis and some 13 kilograms of chars.
