DUSHANBE, June 19, Asia-Plus - Relations between the United States and Iran figured at US Central Command Commander, Admiral William J. Fallon’s discussions with President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on June 19.
“During the meeting it was noted that there have been never good relations between the United States and Iran,” said the admiral, “Moreover, Iran also has striated relations with some neighboring countries.”
According to him, Iran has not played a full role in stabilization of situation in Iraq and Afghanistan. “It could play constructive role in both countries,” Fallon said, noting that the issue of Iran’s interest in stability of Iraq was discussed at a meeting in Baghdad a month ago. “It is in the interest of both countries.”
Asked about the possibility of use of force in resolving the Iran problem, the admiral said that use of force is “the last way out of the situation.” “But I am not supporter of such move, I am support of resolving the issue through diplomatic way,” said the US Central Command chief, “Our main task is to provide stability in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Iran should play the constructive role in that.”
