DUSHANBE, July 30, Asia-Plus — Heads of relevant ministries and organizations discussed issues related to completing construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS) at a July 27 meeting presided over by Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, presidential press service said.
The meeting participants included senior representatives from the ministries of finance, economic and development and trade, energy and industries, justice, as well as the state committee for investments and management of state-owned property, and national power holding Barqi Tojik.
According to presidential press service, telling the meeting, the prime minister pointed to the necessity of cooperation and interaction between all ministries and organizations involved in the construction of that hydropower facility, because by president’s order construction of the Roghun HPS is expected to start before the end of this year with use of domestic resources and by means of establishing an international consortium.
Heads of the ministries and organizations submitted information about a progress of preparations for construction work and existing problems.
The meeting, in particular, considered issues related to extending rehabilitation work, safe keeping of existing resources, and taxation in the initial period of construction.
Participants at the meeting proposed to set up a working group from among specialists from relevant ministries for speeding up preparations for implementation of this significant hydroelectricity project.
