DUSHANBE, August 24, Asia-Plus – Itar Tass -- Problems of cities of countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be considered at an international assembly of capitals and major cities that will be held in Magadan and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky from August 24 to 28.

The press services of the cities’ mayor offices said that the heads of over 100 cities and their deputies from nine CIS countries that are members of the association International Assembly of Capitals and Major Cities will take part in the meeting.

According to Magadan mayor Vladimir Pecheny, this conference is the best opportunity to understand problems of municipalities at the federal level. The Magadan head intends to raise at the forum issues related to the formation of the local budget, replenishment of the city treasury, development of entrepreneurship and improvement of the tax system. The conference will also provide to the cities an opportunity to establish new relations in various spheres with other major localities of Russia and CIS member states.
