DUSHANBE, October 3, Asia-Plus -- More than 20 issues are supposed to be discussed at the CIS summit in Dushanbe.
According to the summit press center, the CIS heads of state will meet Friday afternoon and then negotiations in an enlarged format will be held. After negotiations, heads of state will give a news conference.
The CIS summit is expected to consider the concept of further development of CIS, concerted migration policy, interaction between border services in settling crisis situations on exterior border of CIS, treaty on countering financing of terrorism, program of cooperation in fighting terrorism and extremism for 2008-2010, treaty on fighting theft of cultural relics, treaty on associate membership of CIS, statement of heads of state on intensification of cooperation in fighting drug trafficking, etc.
On October 6, a session of the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) will be held in Dushanbe. The session is supposed to result n signing of 17 documents, including a package of documents on creation of a common customs territory.
The same day, a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be held in the Tajik capital. On completion of the session, heads of states of EAEC and CSTO will make a statement for media. Besides, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between secretariats of CSTO and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be signed in Dushanbe.
All heads of states of CIS except Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko will arrive in Tajikistan to attend the CIS summit. .
