DUSHANBE, November 8, Asia-Plus -- Tajik aluminum plant (Talco) has launched a new workshop for processing iron-and-steel scrap with daily capacity of 60 tons, Talco’s press service said.
Sayohat Qodirova, a spokeswoman for Talco, said that the workshop, which works on natural gas, will remelt some 150,000 tons of iron into reinforcing steel of high quality, the spokeswoman said, noting that 130 people now work with the workshop.
According to her, reinforcing steel produced by Talco will be half the price of reinforcing steel currently realized on Tajik markets.
“The workshop has to date produced 100 tons of reinforcing steel, and 5,000 tons of reinforcing steel are expected to be produced in 2008,” Ms. Qodirova said.
