DUSHANBE, February 28, Asia-Plus  -- 15 journalists from different Tajik media and students from the Faculty of Journalism at Tajik National University and the Journalism Department at Russian-Tajik Slavonic University (RTSU) have attended a two-day training seminar on international standards of journalism conducted by the Dushanbe office of the British Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR).

According to the IWPR Dushanbe Office, the training participants were instructed in writing articles in accordance with international standards of journalism worked out by IWPR.  

IWPR builds democracy at the frontlines of conflict and change through the power of professional journalism. IWPR programs provide intensive hands-on training, extensive reporting and publishing, and ambitious initiatives to build the capacity of local media. Supporting peace-building, development and the rule of law, IWPR gives responsible local media a voice.

IWPR has worked in Central Asia since December 1999, and in Tajikistan since 2001.
