DUSHANBE, February 29, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s companies have an opportunity to conduct negotiations with potential investors from different countries at a conference on investment and business partnership that will be held in Doha, Qatar from March 26-27, Asia-Plus has learned at press service of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Various exhibitions, roundtable discussions and project-presentation ceremonies are expected to be held in Doha on sideline of the conference.
A group of entrepreneurs will represent our country at Qatar conference, March 26-27, in Doha.
We will recall that a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed in Dushanbe on August 27, 2007 during a two-day visit of the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Tajikistan.
The agreements included a MoU in the investment sector, setting up a council for businessmen between the country’s chambers of commerce and industry. The sides also signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the Qatari Mawashi (livestock) company and two Tajik livestock companies. The two MoUs were signed for Mawashi by its Director General Sultan Jawhar al Abdullah, while for the two Tajik companies they were signed by their directors. Tajik President and the Emir later witnessed the exchange of the partnership contract between the Qatari Diyar Real Estate company and Dushanbe Mayor’s Office.
The sides also managed to reach an agreement on opening of aerial communication between the two countries.
During his visit to Qatar on May 6-7, 2007, President Rahmon met with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and a number of high-ranking Qatari state officials to discuss cooperation issues. The two leaders’ talks focused on attracting Qatar and Arab investments in Tajikistan, in particular in Tajikistan’s hydropower sector. During the visit, the sides signed two government-to-government agreements on economic, trade and technical cooperation, as well as mutual protection of investments, and two memoranda of cooperation between the countries’ foreign ministries and chambers of chambers of commerce and industry.
