PANJAKENT, March 10, Asia-Plus -- Road communication with Sughd’s Panjakent, Ayni and Kuhistoni Mastchoh districts has been restored.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Zafar Mirzoboshiyev, the chief of the Ayni emergency management agency, said on Friday that road and transportation directorate “mobilized bulldozers, truck and work teams and cleared a section of the Dushanbe-Khujand highway in the area of the Shahriston Pass on March 7.”
As it had been reported earlier, heavy snowfalls on March 5 blocked in some places the Dushanbe-Khujand highway and the districts of Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Ayni and Panjakent were cut off.
People are being advised not to travel unnecessarily, the Ayni emergencies chief said.
