DUSHANBE, March 25, Asia-Plus -- A large arms cache has been discovered in one of gorges in the Vahdat district, some 20 kilometers east of Dushanbe, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said that two machine-guns Kalashnikov, four grenade launchers, five sub-machine-guns Kalashnikov, three pistols, three hunting guns, some 400 grams of TNT with 20 detonators, one homemade landmine, 80 grenades for the attached grenade launcher, 3,000 bullets of different caliber and other ammunition had been extracted from the hide.
The cache is a legacy of the country’s disastrous civil war in the 1990s and reportedly belonged to one former field commanders, Abduvosit Latipov, who has been wanted by police since 2001, the source said.
