DUSHANBE, March 31, Asia-Plus -- The second unit of the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) is expected to be introduced into operation in July, Rahmetulla Alzhanov, director of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sangtuda HPP-1, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, assembling work is currently under way. The assembling work is expected to be finished in June and after that commissioning will start.
“The third unit is planned to be put into operation in November and introduction of the last, fourth unit into operation is scheduled for March 2009,” the director said.
We will recall that the opening of the first unit of the angtuda-1 station was held on January 20, 2008. Russia’s Unified Energy Systems (RAO YeES) retains a 75 percent share in the power plant, which will generate a projected 2.7 billion kWh of electricity per annum. The power station will have an estimated capacity of 670 MW.
