DUSHANBE, May 19, Asia-Plus --  Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Ramazan Abdulatipov stated that Russia did not need international consortium for Rogun water power station completion in Tajikistan.

“Russia does not need any consortium on this project. We asked Tajik government to define our participatory share and we will work,” said he in his speech at the round table meeting on discussing women’s role in strengthening economic ties with Russia in Dushanbe on Friday.

As he said the project would be realized most effectively only with Russia noting that Russia had such experience in this sphere and a group of builders who are now working in Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric station construction which is being constructed with investments of RAO UES.

“We need to reduce level of our ambitions and think over the right use of common capacity,” said Abdulatipov adding that the project on Rogun hydroelectric station completion with new suggestions from Russia “has been under consideration of Tajik government for one month and Russia got no answer.”

Tajikistan denounced agreement with Russian company Rusal which should become the main investor of Rogun hydroelectric station construction in August, 2007. However at the end of last year Tajikistan stated that consortium on Rogun hydroelectric station completion would be constructed under the auspices of World Bank. Qatar, Kuweit, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and WB showed their interest in participation in the consortium
