DUSHANBE, May 19, Asia-Plus  -- In January-April 2008, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to $1.4974 billion, which is 129.2 percent of the January-April 2007 level, according to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics.    

            The overall trade balance remained negative and has amounted to $4557.2 million. 

Exports of goods in January-April 2008 have amounted to $470.1 million, which is $9.9 million fewer than in the same period of last year.  Imports of goods into Tajikistan over the same four-month period have amounted to $1.0273 billion, which is $348.2 million more than in January-April 2007.  

Over the report period, Tajikistan has had trade relations with 69 countries, including 11 CIS states. 

Over the same four-month period, the CIS states have accounted for some 47.9 percent (equivalent to some $718 million) of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover and the far abroad countries have accounted for 52.1 percent ($779.4 million) of the country’s external trade turnover.
