KHOROG, June 5, Asia-Plus -- The hydropower plant Khorog resumed operation on June 2.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Abdullo Amonbekov, employee of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Pamir Energy Company (PamirEnergy), reminded that the plant was suspended on April 28 in connection major repairs to its diversion canal. “The canal had not bee repaired for several years, and increase in filtration had been to be observed in separate places” the spokesman said.
According to him, the repair work lasted 35 days as it was planned. “Suspension of the operations of the plant practically did not affect the supply of electrical power to Khorog and nearby district,” said Amonbekov, “There were just inconsiderable electricity supply limitations during peak hours in the areas, where electricity debts exceeded 50 percent.”
The 8.7MW Khrorog power plant was built in the early 1970s.
