DUSHANBE, June 6, Asia-Plus - On Thursday June 5, deputy Prime Minister in charge of agriculture, Murodali Alimardon met here with delegation of China’s Xinjinag Uighur Autonomous Region (XUAR) to discuss issues related to cooperation in the agrarian sector, Narzullo Dadaboyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
Agriculture Minister Qosim Qosimov and Land Reclamation and Water Resources Minister Said Yoqubzod also attended the meeting that focused on use of new technologies in development of lands.
The sides discussed issues related to technologies of economical consumption of water, development of arid lands in the northern Sughd province, as well as use of up-to-date technologies to enhance agrarian sector in Tajikistan, the spokesman said.
During the meeting, it was noted that the Chinese specialists will help Tajikistan develop 13,000 hectares of arid lands in Sughd’s Mastchoh district through irrigating them by water from the Qairoqqum reservoir.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Qosimov proposed to set up research center for plant growing and animal husbandry.
The sides came to an agreement to launch joint venture for producing trickle-irrigation equipment, Dadaboyev said.
