DUSHANBE, June 6, Asia-Plus  -- Tajikistan’s Drug Control Agency (DCA) intends to move its representative office from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.

The source at the counter narcotics agency said that in Kyrgyzstan, the DCA office is planned to be located in the city of Osh and facilitate carrying out joint operations of the drug control agencies of the two countries on exposing transnational drug-trafficking groups.

Asked about the reason for relocation of the office, the source said that with the beginning of activity of the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center (CARICC) for combating drug trafficking headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan, with which officers from Tajik law enforcement agencies work, there is no necessity in keeping the DCA office in Almaty.

The DCA office had operated in Kazakhstan since October 2004.

The Tajik counternarcotics agency now has its liaison officers in four Afghanistan’s province bordering on Tajikistan – Badakhshan, Kunduz, Balkh and Takhor.
