KHUJAND, June 26, 2008, Asia-Plus  --Sughd governor Qohir Rasoulzoda inaugurated two enterprises in the city of Isfara on June 25.

One of them is a workshop for producing cement that was launched at the Isfara expanded clay plant (roofing slate production).  The enterprise, which has the capacity of 70,000 tons of cement per year, has created 80 new jobs.

According to the Isfara mayor, Ms. Muhiba Yoqubova, an average monthly wage of workers with the new cement workshop will be some 700 somonis.

The second enterprise, inaugurated in Isfara yesterday, is a fruit-processing workshop at joint stock-company Noni Isfara (Isfara bread-baking plant).  The enterprise has two lines: one for packing dried fruits and another one for processing fruits and other farm produce, including milk.  The workshop has capacity of 15,000 tons of products per day and 30 persons will work with it, the mayor said.

Ms. Yoqubova noted that the fruit-processing workshop had been launched with participation of foreign capital.  “More than 156,000 US dollars have been spent for establishing the enterprise, and 50 percent of this amount has been provided by the Isfara company Tajfruit and the remaining 50 percent has been provided by the Mennonite Economic Development Associates of Canada (MEDA),” the mayor said.
