KONIBODOM, July 8, Asia-Plus -- An anti-locust campaign that has been lasting in the northern district of Konibodom for almost ten days is nearing completion, Karimkhoja Jourayev, the head of the Konibodom agriculture department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, a serious locust infestation has spread to over 1,000 hectares of cotton and grain fields in the district this year. All the locust-affects areas have been treated and the campaign to combat locust infestation will be finished within a couple of days. “We have prepared a map of the locust-affected areas and these areas will be chemically once again in early autumn,” the Konibodom agriculture official said.
Jourayev added that local TV station Guli Bodom had provided them assistance with raising local populations’ awareness of methods to combat locust infestations. “They have made an instructional film on methods of combating locusts,” said Joruayev. “Copies of this film have been distributed to farming units.”
