DUSHANBE, August 4, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- Ten methodological recommendations on application of international financial reporting standards (IFRS) have been introduced in Tajikistan so far, Deputy Finance Minister, Jamoliddin Nouraliyev, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, the main work in this direction is carried out by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) as well as working group for preparation of methodological recommendations at the Public Institute of Professional Accountants and Auditors in Tajikistan and the Methodological Council for Accounting within the Government Commission for Transition to International Financial Reporting Standards.

The main objective of these operational instructions is to explain requirements of international financial reporting standards as well as citing practical examples that will assist with application of international accounting standards, the deputy minister said.

“The Methodological Council for Accounting within the Government Commission for Transition to IFRS plans to consider another 24 recommendations on application of international accounting standards and a new version of the card of accounts before the end of this year,” Nouraliyev said.

He also added that after long negotiations with representatives of the offices of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) in Tajikistan an agreement had been reached on providing technical assistance to Tajikistan through offering consultant from the UK-based consulting company Corporate Solutions Consulting Ltd “for participation in carrying out reforms on introduction of international financial reporting standards in Tajikistan.”  The project is designed for three months, according to him.

The Methodological Council for Accounting within the Government Commission for Transition to International Financial Accounting Standards was established at the end of last year.
