DUSHANBE, August 5, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- Presentation of the 17th China Xinjiang Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair, which will be held at the Xinjiang International Exhibition Center in Urumqi, China from September 1-5, was held at Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) in Dushanbe on August 4.  

The source at a CCI said that the fair’s organizers are the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Council for Promotion of International Trade under the People’s Government of Xinjiang-Uighur Autonomous Region (XUAR). 

The fair is held under sponsorship of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Japan’s Association for Promotion of International Trade Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Almaty, Kazakhstan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commodity Producers and Entrepreneurs

New products, technique and projects will be put display at the 17th Urumqi fair.  Companies participating at the fair will display their achievements in foodstuffs, textiles, garments, light industry, arts and crafts, automobile, machinery and equipment, household electrical appliances, petroleum products, chemicals, communication and IT products, building materials, furniture, nonferrous metals, medicine and health products, the CCI source said.  

Business matching/talks between entrepreneurs and contract-signing for cooperation projects will be held on the sidelines of the fair.  

Urumqi Frontier Economic & Trading Fair, started on September 2, 1992 when former Premier Li Peng cut the ribbon for the first opening of the Fair.  Since then, a new fair structure was formed, that is, Guangzhou Fair in South China, Shanghai Fair in East China, Harbin Fair in North China, and Urumqi Fair in West China.
