DUSHANBE, August 22, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Presentation of ten items of textbooks for secondary schools was held at the Ministry of Education (MoE) today.
According to the unit for management of the education project, the textbooks have been published within the framework of the education modernization project. One of the main components of the education development support projects is to promote publication and distribution of textbooks, based on the latest achievements of the educational programs, to schools across the country, the unit source said.
They have published textbooks on the Tajik language for 6th grade, Tajik literature for 5th, 7th and 10th grades, Uzbek language for 6th grade, music and singing for 5th grade, mathematics for 6th grade, ABC book for 1st grade, biology for 9th grade, information technologies (in the Uzbek language) for 7th – 9th grades.
The textbooks have been published by local publishing-houses Sobiriyon, AVA, Xerox-Land, Bakht, Mavlavi, and Matbuot.
Within the framework of the education modernization project, which is sponsored by the World Bank, 50 items of textbooks, totaling 4,417,500 copies, for $4.7 million have been published and distributed schools so far.
