KULOB, September 3, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Administration of the cotton-ginning factory Zarkham in the Kulob district has finally been permitted to accept raw cotton for processing.
As it had reported earlier, Zarkham was banned from accepting cotton in early August, following ruling by the Kulob branch of Tojikstandart (Tajik agency for standardization, metrology, certification and trade inspection).
The ginnery was fined 600 somonis and prohibited from accepting cotton of this year’s harvest because it did not have an accredited lab and calibrating and purge workshops to process elite cottonseeds.
The ginnery removed all shortcomings and the Khatlon governor permitted it to accept cotton. The cotton-ginning factory Zarkham will accept cotton for processing at he rate of $150.00 per one ton.
