KHOROG, September 4, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- Khorog Technical Lyceum (vocational-technical school) has moved to new building in the village of Debasta, Shugnan district, some 25 kilometers to the east of Khorog.

An official opening of the new building of the lyceum that was held on September 3 was attended by the GBAO governor Qodir Qosim and Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov. 

Speaking at the inaugurating ceremony, the GBAO governor noted that the half-finished building had been completed under financial support of the government.  According to him, 2.5 million somonis have been allocated for completing construction of the building.  

The education minister noted that the new building has 30 classes and offices, computer class and dormitory for 85 students.  The minister promised additional technical assistance for providing classes with necessary educational supplies.   

According to the technical lyceum director Saidqadam Saidafzalov, they have received 192 applications from those wanting to study at the lyceum this year, which several times more than last year.
