KULOB, September 19, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Farming units Eraj, Qurbonnazar, Ahliffin, and Mahmudi-hakim in Khatlon’s Vose district have repaid their loans to the branch of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) by September 18, Anvar Nodirov, head of Amonatbonk’s branch in Vose, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, another 14 farming units in the district have also started repaying their loans to the bank. “In all, loans of totaling 217,568 somoni have been repaid so far,” Nodirov said.
He noted that they had received 2,672,777 somoni from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) for loaning cotton growing in 90 dehqon (peasant) farms in the district. “Some of farming units have refused the third tranche; however, we have not returned these funds to the ministry and provided them in loans to three other dehqon farms,” Amonatbonk’s branch head said, noting that they had funded cotton growing on the area of 1,974 hectares.
All the loans should be repaid by April 1, 2009, Nodirov said.
