DUSHANBE, September 23, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Resident of Khatlon’s Bokhtar district Safarali Akbarov has been detained by local police officers on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing, according to the Ministry of Interior.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for a MoI, said that Akbarov was detained yesterday and 2.8 kilograms of heroin had been found in his home. “Investigators suppose that he was going to push the found narcotic drug in the district and the city of Qurghon Teppa,” the spokesman said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Akbarov under the provisions of Article 200 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code (illicit drug trafficking) and an investigation is under way.
