DUSHANBE, September 23, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Farmers in Tajikistan have produced some 53,000 tons of potatoes so far, which is 25 percent of this year’s target, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
Tajik farmer intend to produce 212,931 tons of potatoes this year. This year, farmers have planted potatoes on an area of 9,623 hectares.
The ministry has reported average potato harvests of up to 21.4 tons/ha, which is 30 percent more than last year.
