DUSHANBE, October 6, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- Tajikistan stands the last place among the CIS states in terms of industrial production growth rate, according to the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics. 

In Tajikistan, industrial production fell 2.5 percent in the year to September 1, 2008, the CIS committee for statistics said.  

Belarus with 13.1% industrial production growth rate tops the CIS states, followed by Azerbaijan (9.6 percent).  Ukraine stands the third (6.3 percent), and Kyrgyzstan (6.1 percent) is rated fourth.  In Russia, industrial productions rose 5.3 percent in the year to September 1, 2008.

The CIS average industrial production growth rate for January-August 2008 stood at 6 percent, according to the CIS committee for statistics.    

In the meantime, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT), Tajikistan has produced a total of 3.75 million billion worth of industrial goods in January-August 2008.  Compared to January-August 2007 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 106.9 percent, the ministry said.
