KHUJAND, October 8, 2008, Asia-Plus -- On Tuesday October 7, the first 400 conscripts from northern Tajikistan were sent to serve in the military units in the Khatlon province, Asia-Plus has learned from Sharif Azizov, an official with the Sughd regional military registration and enlistment office.
According to him, another 200 conscripts from the Sughd province are being sent to serve in military units in the south of the country today.
We will recall that the autumn conscription campaign was launched in Tajikistan on October 2 and runs through November. The draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old, who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
