DUSHNBE, October 8, Asia-Plus  -- The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics has released data on gross domestic product (GDP) growth during January-August 2008.  The GDP in the CIS countries rose 7% in average compared to the same period of 2007.

The highest GDP rate has been reported in Azerbaijan (13.2 percent) and Belarus (10.6 percent), and the lowest GDP rate has been reported in Kazakhstan (4.9 percent) and Moldova (5.4 percent).

Tajikistan has been ranked 9th among the CIS states in terms of the GDP growth rate – 6.9 percent.

In Armenia GDP growth has reached 10.3 percent, in Uzbekistan – 9.3 percent, in Russia and Kyrgyzstan -- 7.4 percent, and Ukraine – 7.1 percent.  In Georgia that declared its withdrawal from CIS GDP growth for January-August has reached 9.3 percent. 

The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics does not have GDP growth rates for Turkmenistan.
