DUSHANBE, October 23, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Sergey Mironov, Chairman of the Federation Council (Russia’s upper chamber of parliament) is arriving in Dushanbe today evening for an official visit, according to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe. 

During his stay in Dushanbe, Sergey Mironov, will co-chair the third Tajik-Russian inter-parliament forum “Tajikistan-Russia: Potential of Interregional Cooperation” will be held in Dushanbe from October 24-25.  

On October 24, Mironov will hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev,    Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Saydullo Khairulloyev.   

The same day, Russian speaker will also participate at a ceremony of opening of Russian Center of Russia’s Russkiy Mir (Russian World) National Foundation at Tajik State Teachers’ Training University named after Sadriddin Ayni in Dushanbe.

A broad range of issues related to cooperation between the regions of the two countries, including improvement of legal foundation, investment climate, business project, will be discussed at the “Tajikistan-Russia: Potential of Interregional Cooperation” forum.  The forum participants will include Mps of the two countries, representatives of business circles, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the regions of Tajikistan and Russia.  

The forum is expected to end with signing of a number of cooperation agreements between the regions of the two countries.
