KHUJAND, November 15, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- In January-October 2008, the foreign trade turnover of the Sughd province, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to 895.5871 million US dollars, which is 144.7 percent of the January-October 2007 level or 276.7083 million dollars more, according to the Sughd agency for statistics.  

The trade balance was negative and amounted to 623.532 million dollars.   

             Exports of goods over the report period have amounted to 136.0276 million dollars, which is 2.3 percent or 3.0896 million dollars more than in the same period of last year. 

Imports of goods into the province in January-October 2008 have amounted to $759.5595 million, which is 56.3 percent or 273.6187 million dollars more than in January-October 2007.

Over the same ten-month period, the Sughd province has had foreign trade relations with 63 countries of the world, including 11 CIS states.  

The CIS states accounted for 65.2 percent of Sughd’s external trade turnover in January-September 2008, and other foreign countries accounted for 34.8 percent.

Over the report period, the CIS states have been Sughd’s main export partners, accounting for 52.2 percent of its exports.  Imports have also come mainly from the CIS - 67.6 percent (

Over the same ten-month period, the province has imported 2.1831 billion kWh of electricity for $32.7483 million.   

Sughd has imported 98.8 million cubic meters of natural gas for $14.7671 million over the report period.
