DUSHANBE, November 24, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The fifth session of the council for health care within the Integration Committee of the Eurasian Economic Committee (EAEC) has opened in Dushanbe today.
According to press service of the Ministry of Health (MoH), a two-day meeting has brought together representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan as well as EAEC Integration Committee Secretariat and the Regional Group for Implementation of Central Asia AIDS Control Project (CAAP) to discuss issues related to controlling and preventing HIV in the region.
The meeting participants are also considering projects for controlling and preventing other infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria and avian influenza and issues of providing the EAEC member nations with medical equipments and medicines.
The session is also discussing issues related to drafting the interstate target program entitled “Health of the Peoples of EAEC” as well as providing medical aid to migrant workers and proposals on establishment of the Regional AIDS Prevention Fund.
