DUSHANBE, December 1, 2008, Asia-Plus -- On Saturday November 29, President Emomali Rahmon met with Qatar’s Emir with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in Doha, Qatar.
According to presidential press service, the sides discussed the progress of practical implementation of cooperation agreements signed between Tajikistan and Qatar in 2007 and agreed to exchange embassies in the near future.
During his stay in Doha, Tajik leader also held talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister also Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani and Finance Minister Youssef Hussein Kamal to discuss prospects of further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in different fields.
Opening of direct air route between the countries, construction of apartment buildings, large mosque and modern secondary school in Dushanbe due to Qatari investments, as well as launch of joint ventures for processing farm produce in Tajikistan with further export of finished goods to Qatar were among major topics of the talks, the press service said.
