DUSHANBE, December 4, 2008, Asia-Plus -- In January-November 2008, officers from the Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) have seized 1,281.935 kilograms of narcotic drugs, which is 320.788 kilograms or 33.8 percent more than in the same period of last year, according to the DCA press service.
A totaled included 348.578 kilograms of heroin, 573.863 kilograms of raw opium and 359.495 kilograms of cannabis.
Over the report period, 2,265.2 kilograms of drugs, including 436.5 kilograms of heroin, 2,068.3 kilograms of raw opium and 359 kilograms of cannabis have been intercepted in Afghanistan in joint operations carried out by DCA offices working in Afghanistan in cooperation with the Afghan law enforcement agencies.
Over the same eleven-month period, officers from the Tajik counternarcotics agency have seized 80 drug-containing pills.
During the report period, DCA burned 604.439 kilograms of drugs that were confiscated in the course of 2007-2008, the press service said.
