DUSHANBE, December 17, 2008, Asia-Plus -- A new fixed-satellite communications provider, Isatel-Tajikistan, was presented in Dushanbe on December 16.
According to the Isatel-Tajikistan director general Ilhom Kholov, the company was established in Dushanbe in the frames of initiative of the Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications to establish operators in the participating countries.
“Isatel-Tajikistan will provide services on organization of domestic and international satellite channels as well as services on broadband access to Internet in Dushanbe and other cities of the country under the WiMAX technology,” Kholov said, noting that the company is currently completing construction of Teleport in Dushanbe that will provide Isatel customers with necessary technological platform for creation of satellite networks and organization of telecommunications services based on these networks.
Co-founders of Isatel-Tajikistan are Tajik open joint-stock company (OJSC) Teleradiocom and Intersputnik Holding Ltd. Teleradiocom owns 49 percent of the shares and Intersputnik Holding Ltd assumes the 51% ownership interest in the company.
According to Oleg Timoshenko, chairman of the board of directors of Intersputnik Holding Ltd, the project will allow solving the issue of broadband access to Internet and promoting development of digital and interactive television in Tajikistan and will give an opportunity for introduction of distant learning technologies in Tajikistan’s education system, etc.
Intersputnik Holding Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of the Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications, was established in December 2005 and is a parent company of the international group of service providers rendering full-scale wireless telecommunication services. Intersputnik Holding, which is a core organization of the Group''s operators from several countries, coordinates the cooperation of all involved partners and subcontractors and regulates the high level of quality for all services.
