KULOB, December 23, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The government has allocated seven million somoni to the city of Kulob for 2009 for enhancement of education sector and water supply system in the city.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Kulob mayor Homid Abdulloyev said that six million somoni would go to financing constriction of two new schools in Kulob.
“53 schools now function in the city and the district of Kulob. The majority of them work in two shifts, while some of them work even in three shifts,” the mayor said, notting that they plan to build two schools to accommodate totaling 1,300 pupils.
According to him, the city budget will try to find funds for construction of additional classes for primary schools in the city.
The remaining one million somoni will be spent for construction of water supply system in the Sino and Jomi areas of Kulob, the mayor said.
