DUSHANBE, December 26, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The Drug Control Agency (DCA) burned more than two tons of narcotics in the furnace at Tajiktekstilmash plant in Dushanbe today.
It was the largest drug burning. The totaled included more than one ton of raw opium, 390 kilograms of heroin and more than 622 kilograms of cannabis.
The drugs were confiscated by officers from the counter narcotics agency in the course of 2007-2008. The narcotics were material evidences on 148 drug-related criminal proceedings.
According to DCA, they have burnt more than 10 tons of drugs, with more than 4 tons of them being heroin, since 2003, when the counternarcotics agency was established.
