KHUJAND, January 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- 6,453 hectares of lands, including 5,332 hectares of areas requiring irrigation and 1,131 hectares of dry-farming lands, have remained out of a crop rotation, the Sughd governor Qohir Rasoulzoda remarked at a meeting in Khujand on January 19.

According to him, these areas included 238 hectares in Asht, 2020 hectares in Ghonchi, 863 hectares in Zafarobod, 634 hectares in Konibodom, 3,101 hectares in Mastchoh, 663 hectares in Spitamen, 301 hectares in Istaravshan, and 451 hectares in Bobojonghafurov.

Speaking at the meeting, the governor proposed to consider the issue of establishment of the land exchanges at the national level.  “In this case, there will be an opportunity to rent lands of farm that failed to use them properly through transparent competition,” the governor.
