DUSHANBE, January 21, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- In early February, President Emomali Rahmon is scheduled to attend a session of the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium and pay visits to Croatia and the Baltic nations, Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi announced at a press conference in Dushanbe today.

According to him, during his ten-day tour of Europe, President Rahmon will hold talks with the presidents of the mentioned countries and senior representatives of the European Union, European Parliament and NATO.

Foreign minister noted that it was expected that Rahmon’s visits to those European countries would yield good results.

“Sea ports of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania play an important role for export and import of cargoes for Tajikistan and further use of them is of significant importance for us and President Rahmon intends to discuss this issue with his Baltic counterparts,” Zarifi said.

During visits to Belgium and Croatia, Emomali Rahmon will discuss issues related to bilateral economic and social cooperation with these countries, the minister said.

As it had been reported earlier, Emomali Rahmon will pay a state visit to Latvia on February 8-9.  On completion of the visit to Latvia, the Tajik leader will go to Brussels, where he will attend a session of the European Commission.  From Brussels Rahmon will go to Lithuania on an official visit and them to Estonia.
