DUSHANBE, January 24, 2009, Asia-Plus – The Tajik government says it wants to send labor migrants to other countries besides the most common destination, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrohkhon Zarifi told RFE/RL''s Tajik Service that the government is discussing ways to send Tajik citizens to South Korea, Qatar, Yemen, and other Arab countries for work.
Labor and Social Affairs Minister Shukurjon Zuhurov said in Dushanbe that Tajikistan is capable of sending 20,000 to 50,000 workers to the Middle East and South Korea every year.
More than 800,000 Tajiks go to Russia each year seeking work.
