DUSHANBE, January 26, Asia-Plus  -- A new Lithuanian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Romualdas Kozirovicus, presented the credentials to President Emomali Rahmon on January 26, according to presidential press service.

In the course of the talks, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Lithuania.  During the meeting, it was noted that a two-way trade between the two countries last year exceeded 110 million US dollars.

The sides outlined sectors like hydropower, cargo transit, launch of joint ventures for production of building materials and processing of farm produce with use of modern technologies, as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

They also discussed issues related to the present situation in Afghanistan and addressing modern challenges and threats.

The sides expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of Tajik president to Lithuania due in February this year would give an impulse to further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Lithuania.
