DUSHANBE, January 27, 2009, Asia-Plus -- 20 million somoni (equivalent to 5.714 million US dollars) worth of securities are expected to be issued in Tajikistan this year, Deputy Finance Minister, Jamshed Norinov, told a press conference in Dushanbe today.
According to him, a total includes public premium bonds for 10 million somoni and circulating notes for the same amount.
Noting that government’s resolution on issuing new securities was signed on December 29, 2008, the deputy minister said that the securities were currently being printed in Germany and should be delivered to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) before March 15, 2009. “We plan to put the public premium bonds into circulation beginning on April 1 this year,” Norinov said.
The bonds will be issued for the period of 10 years. The government will issue public premium bonds of 10 and 20 somoni’s denomination and winnings on them are set at 20, 40, 100, 200, 300, 500, 1,000 and 1,500 somoni. In all, 60 drawings will held for the bonds during ten years – six drawings each year with periodicity of once per two months.
